2013 – 2016 Assistant Resident Engineer

  • Improvement of the N7/3 – Cederberg to Clanwilliam: Re-alignment, upgrading of culverts, and the demolishing and rebuilding of the Kransvleikloof River Bridge.
    • Site supervision: Pavement layer and stormwater supervision and as-builts, verification of contractor payment certificates, health and safety supervision, and traffic control supervision.
    • Laboratory experience: Supervision of pavement layer testing and verification of results.
    • Supervision experience: Supervision of in-service year of BTech students.

2012-2013 Graduate Civil Engineer

  • Improvement of the N7/3 – Cederberg to Clanwilliam: Re-alignment, upgrading of culverts, and the demolishing and rebuilding of the Kransvleikloof River Bridge.
    • Design experience: Compilation of the Design Report, Cape Seal design, cash flow projection, and site meeting presentation.
  • Augmentation of the Western Cape Water Supply System Feasibility Study: Pre-feasibility and feasibility study reports to effectively utilize existing surface water resources and economically augment future bulk water for the Western Cape.
    • Design experience: Assisted the preliminary design with of balancing tank, discharge chute and stilling basin for water transferred from a pressure pipeline to a closed gravity chute which discharges into the Blousloot River, from where the water would be diverted into the existing Voëlvlei Dam.
  • De Grendel 25 Ml Reservoir: Design and Supervision of the De Grendel 25 Ml reservoir.
    • Design experience: Design of storm water system to accommodate for the runoff of surface water from the proposed reservoir, including tender documentation and drawings (SABS project specifications).
  • Mthatha Airport Runway: Audit by the Department of Treasury of the improvements to the Mthatha Airport Runway.
    • Design experience: Assisted the technical audit of the layer works of the main runway, compilation of the audit project programme, and final report.
  • Reseal Main Road 27 and Trunk Road 25 Section 1 –  Paarl to Malmesbury.
    • Design experience: Conducting visual inspections; compiling activity schedules, tender documents and drawings for the execution of the works and liaising with labour consultants, and the compilation of sub-consultancy agreements and the tender-evaluation report.
  • Reseal of Trunk Road 33 Section 5.
    • Design experience: Assisted the compilation of tender documents and drawings for the execution of the works, liaising with labour consultants and costing rehabilitation options for the client.
  • Stellenbosch River Management: Implementation of Stellenbosch Municipality’s River Management Plan.
    • Design experience: Visual assessment of the riverbanks and stormwater structures, hydrology of the Stellenbosch catchment area, and design and supervision of minor stormwater extensions in Idas Valley.
    • Site supervision: Inspection of storm water extensions in Idas Valley.
  •  Upgrade of DR1223 – Bredasdorp to Malgas: Upgrade of a portion of the road from gravel to surfaced.
    • Design experience: Visual assessment of the strom water structures, hydrology of the catchment area, assessment of the existing structure capacity, and the compilation of the drainage report.
  • Upington reseal projects: Three reseal projects for SANRAL Western Region, including sections of the N8 and N10.
    • Design experience:  Assisted with contract administration such as checking payment certificates, compiling variation orders and invoices to the client, spray rate designs, and checking asphalt mixes to project specifications.
